Management of the Patient with Craniofacial Anomalies and Clefts

This presentation will provide an overview of craniofacial anomalies and the types of clefts experienced by patients visiting the Perth Children’s Hospital Cleft Craniofacial unit.

Furthermore, some of the other interesting patients treated by Perth Children’s Hospital Dental Department will be covered

This seminar will seek to uncover the evidence and stimulate discussion around day to day techniques used in paediatric and operative dentistry.

 

 Dr Gregory Celine is a specialist paediatric dentist who is currently employed full time in the Perth Children’s Hospital Dental Department as the Senior Registrar.  He has a special interest in the treatment of medically compromised children, as well as being active in dental research.  He obtained his undergraduate dental qualification from Griffith University and completed his specialist training at the University of Western Australia while playing an active role as a registrar at the Princess Margaret Hospital for Children and Perth Children’s Hospital.

 

 

Dr Michael  Hurrell  |  Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical registrar

Trauma, Infection, Oral Pathology and Orthognathic Surgery.

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons commonly manage patients with odontogenic infection and facial trauma. They also manage obstructive sleep apnoea and dento-facial deformity with orthognathic surgery and replace missing teeth with dental and craniofacial implants. All of these procedures will be presented along with the management of oral benign and malignant pathology.

This very visual presentation will leave you in no doubt about how surgeons manage these patients.

 

Dr Michael Hurrell 

A Michael is a senior Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery registrar with the Western Australian training program.

He has completed degrees in both Dentistry (UQ 2008) and Medicine (UQ 2014), as well as a PhD in facial trauma management (UQ 2019).

After working as a general dentist in Darwin and Brisbane he currently has roles at OHCWA, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital and Perth Children’s Hospital.
